June 2024 TAA Meeting

We had a wonderful turn out for our June meeting! Some artists who painted portraits for the Smoky Mountain Service Dogs brought their work in and a few artists shared their challenege theme works.

Shannon did a very engaging and informative presentation, showing her process for framing pieces of art (as well as other items). She talked about making choices for glass, explained how cnavases fit into frames using clips, staples, and other methods. She talked about matting photos and fine art and went into detail about recemmended using wire to hang. It was a wonderful demonstration and many questions were asked.

A piece of important advice that she shared with the group was to transport framed pieces face to face so that the attachments do not scratch or dent the frame or glass on the front.

Please remember – those entering the juried show need to have their entries in by June 24th! INFO HERE

Looking forward to our next meeting on July 16th at 7:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 6500 Northshore Dr., Knoxville. The program will feature Evan McKee, an Automation Engineer based in Chattanooga, TN. His work leverages AI for programming, data analytics and computer vision. Outside of his profession, he is passionate about creating digital and AI art. His presentation, “Introduction to AI Art” will survey the evolution, techniques and controversies of this innovative medium. McKee is the son of TAA member Michael McKee. He earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from UT Knoxville.

Hope to see you there!
